The Opportunity
Spotless (a Downer Company) has the contract with the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for Facilities Maintenance and Management at four main bases: Linton Military Camp, RNZAF Base Ohakea, Burnham Military Camp and Waiouru Military Training Area including the National Army Museum.
Job Summary & Tasks
The Carpenter, under limited direction, will be required to deliver maintenance services relating to fixed plant and equipment. You will be working in a diverse military operational environment, often under high pressure and dealing with conflicting priorities for the needs of our multiple stakeholders. You will provide the best outcome for the company and the customer. The position, therefore, requires the individual to plan, organize, and prioritize their work to meet strict deadlines and provide timely and accurate information to all stakeholders.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairs of residential spaces, office spaces or operational facilities to the required quality standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and take corrective action.
- Undertake scoping and assist with quoting of maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulations and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other maintenance & project teams, such as electrical and plumbing to resolve issues.
- Timely and accurate capture and recording of data, information and system updates.
- Assist in training other staff members.
Important Skills
- Qualified Carpenter or similar.
- Drivers’ License, class 1.
- Literate (ability to complete time and job sheets, and some technical literacy to operate handheld electronic recording devices).
- Ability to plan jobs, operate and maintain equipment without supervision.
- Ability to Communicate well.
- Technical skills: Working knowledge of the techniques, methods, tools, and safety precautions of the carpentry trade.
